Dandelion Designs Upholstery

Carl: I am an upholsterer who has taken pride in developing as an artisan craftsman since 1989.

Originally a grass roots apprentice, I built my career within the same company to position of Head Upholsterer with lead responsibility for design, pattern creation, and teaching the next generation of upholsterers.

I am proud to have been part of the significant history of industry and manufacture in Long Eaton, a small town in the East Midlands. From its lace roots, it turned to upholstery in the early 1900’s and is now recognised as the UK centre of quality upholstery manufacture.

In more recent years, I have developed a passion for breathing new life into vintage upholstered furniture. Also having a keen interest in the environmental approach, in 2022 I established Dandelion Designs as a furniture artist and re-styler.

Lisa: I grew up in a creative household and have always had a keen eye for fashions and trends in clothing, interior design, photography, and architecture. I trained as an occupational therapist, qualifying in 1993, and went on to establish my own consultancy business in 2011. Taking my organisational and multi-tasking skills and combining them with my passion for originality and innovation, I co-founded Dandelion Designs with my partner Carl.

From sourcing unique pieces, to painstakingly researching fabrics that will compliment them, to pairing designs with braid, studs, tassels, and pom poms, to marketing, to ensuring we are as sustainable as we can be…..that’s my role in a nutshell!
